Live Within Your Means Twitter Party #FLM2017
November is Financial Literacy Month
November is Financial Literacy Month (FLM). Under the leadership of the Financial Literacy Leader, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) helps coordinate the efforts of, and increase collaboration between, organizations from the private, public and non-profit sectors to strengthen the financial literacy of Canadians and empower them to: manage money and debt wisely, save for the future, and understand their financial rights and responsibilities This year’s FLM theme “Take charge of your finances: It pays to know!” encourages Canadians to take concrete actions to better manage their money and debt, including making a budget, having a savings plan and understanding their financial rights and responsibilities Throughout the month, FCAC will feature weekly sub-themes that bring attention to the benefits of basic money management practices at different stages of life and encourage Canadians to reduce debt and save for the future.

About Kelley Keehn
Kelley Keehn, personal finance educator, speaker, media personality and best-selling, award-winning author of nine books, uncovers the “inner games” we play surrounding wealth.
During the decade-plus she spent as a financial professional, Kelley discovered that whether someone has a billion in the bank or is a million in the hole, everyone has money problems! While working in the banking and financial industry, she witnessed how emotions can reinforce the problems that individuals have with money. Kelley has developed a number of fun and practical guides to uncover and change people’s money mindsets at a fundamental level.
Kelley understands first-hand what it means to be a woman in corporate North America today; her 2008 title She Inc. teaches women to overcome their obstacles and capitalize on female strengths. She oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars for one of Canada’s most international banks, endured the trials and successes of opening her own business, and is a sought-after speaker and educator for many successful corporations.
Kelley is a popular media guest, appearing on TV and radio around the globe, and has written many columns and published articles. She has been a regular contributor for CNBC (New York), a nationally syndicated columnist with CBC radio, the host of W Network’s Burn My Mortgage, and a weekly columnist for the Globe and Mail and AOL’s WalletPop Canada. She’s a personal finance expert for The Marilyn Denis Show and has been quoted in O, The Oprah Magazine.
Her best-selling book, A Canadian’s Guide to Money-Smart Living was released in February of 2013 and published by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. The book went on to win an Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) award, granted by The Institute for Financial Literacy this past April. Her newest book, Protecting You and Your Money; A Guide to Avoiding Identity Theft and Fraud, was published by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and launched on Parliament Hill, March 25th, 2014, which also won an EIFLE award in 2015.
Kelley was named to the National Steering Committee on Financial Literacy in June 2014 and served a two year term. Today, she is proud to add the title of Consumer Advocate for the Financial Planning Standards Council to her daily missions.
